Job summary

TYLin is seeking a Wayfinding Specialist to support the planning and design of wayfinding systems for complex infrastructure and transportation projects in the New York and New Jersey region.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced Architect or Planner with a strong background in wayfinding strategy, environmental graphic design, and the integration of signage and passenger information systems into the built environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, Graphic Design, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience with a focus on wayfinding planning and design.
• Experience developing wayfinding strategies and signage systems for complex built environments.
• Experience on transportation or transit infrastructure projects (rail stations, airports, terminals) preferred.
• Strong understanding of pedestrian circulation, signage hierarchies, and information design.
• Ability to translate client requirements into clear, practical design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead wayfinding strategy and planning for complex buildings and transportation infrastructure.
• Drive design development of wayfinding concepts, sign families, and environmental graphics.
• Coordinate wayfinding with architectural design, circulation, and passenger flow.
• Apply user-centered design to create accessible navigation experiences for diverse users.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, planners and transportation specialists.
• Present concepts to clients, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and guide documentation.
• Oversee preparation of wayfinding plans, schedules, and design guidelines.
• Support project delivery, manage milestones, and ensure accessibility compliance.
• Contribute to proposals and business development in TYLin's wayfinding capabilities.
