Job summary

Floyd County Board of Commissioners seeks a Chief Water Distribution Operator to supervise the operation and maintenance of the county's surface water treatment plant, ensuring the delivery of safe drinking water in compliance with regulations.

The role leads staff, monitors treatment processes and water quality, performs laboratory testing, maintains equipment, and manages records and procurement while enforcing all safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years in water treatment plant operations.
• At least 1 year in lead or supervisory role.
• Valid Georgia Class I Water Treatment Operator License.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates assigned staff; assigns work, monitors workflow, and resolves personnel issues.
• Operates, monitors, and maintains the surface water treatment plant to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous water treatment operations.
• Monitors treatment processes, chemical feed systems, equipment performance, and water quality to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Performs and reviews laboratory testing, sample collection, and operational records to verify water quality and regulatory compliance.
• Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, and performs preventive maintenance on plant equipment, instrumentation, pumps, and related systems.
• Maintains operational records, prepares reports, and monitors plant data, chemical usage, and treatment system performance.
• Maintains inventory of chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment and coordinates the procurement of materials as needed.
• Ensures compliance with applicable safety standards, environmental regulations, and departmental policies while operating equipment and responding to operational issues.
