Job summary

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS or related advanced degree with substantial special collections library experience.
• 5+ years cataloging visual materials in a research/academic library, museum, or similar setting.
• 3+ years coordinating complex cataloging projects and staff workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging for visual materials (photographs, prints, illustrations, etc.) according to national and local standards.
• Lead and coordinate visual materials cataloging workflows aligned with institutional priorities.
• Develop and maintain cataloging documentation with key partners.
• Contribute to cross-departmental standards and best practices for descriptive description and access.
• Represent NYPL in professional groups and collaborations related to visual materials description.
• Perform other duties as required.
