Job summary

NewDay Veterinary Care in Coconut Creek, Florida is seeking a Lead Veterinary Technician to guide a team of two to four technicians and support doctors with exams, imaging, and treatments. The role includes training new staff, maintaining SOPs, and ensuring high-quality patient care in a busy clinic.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of veterinary technician experience and RVT/LVT/CVT licensure preferred. Excellent communication and ability to work both independently and with a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a veterinary setting (preferred).
• 3+ years of veterinary technician experience (minimum).
• RVT/LVT/CVT licensure preferred.
• Lab, medical records, and SOAP knowledge.
• Ability to read fecal float, fecal direct, ear/skin cytology.
• In-house hematology and chemistry equipment familiarity.
• Knowledge of vaccines and vital signs; phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 2–4 technicians and oversee training and SOPs.
• Partner with veterinarian management on accountability and follow-up.
• Provide compassionate care and support to doctors and patients.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations and procedures; handle animals before/during/after.
• Perform diagnostic imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, CT).
• Maintain charts, administer medications, and care for animals during visits.
• Communicate basic diagnoses to pet parents.
• Additional functions: dental prophylaxis, placing IVCs, venipuncture, assist with surgeries.
