Clean Harbors Benicia, CA is seeking a Second Shift Lead Diesel Mechanic to oversee shop operations and ensure fleet compliance with DOT rules. The role focuses on supervising maintenance work, maintaining service records, and driving safety standards across the team.

The position emphasizes hands-on diagnostic and repair work, with responsibilities for preventative maintenance, inspections, and offsite service calls. A valid license and strong teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of diesel engine experience.
• 1+ years DOT inspection experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work in team environment.
• Must be versed in electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, engines etc.
• Proficient in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy duty units (forklifts, trucks, tractors, tankers).
• Demonstrates ability to pass background, drug, and physical test on hire.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following safe work practices and policies.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and corrections; include offsite road calls.
• Complete daily operation checklists for the unit.
• Confirm daily maintenance tasks are performed and report issues promptly.
• Complete and submit all paperwork for PM schedules.
• Conduct safety checks and annual vehicle inspections per laws.
• Ensure equipment is parked in compliance with DOT requirements.
• Make sure work meets health and safety SOPs.
• Keep the work area clean.
• Perform other assignments as needed by management.
• Understand Clean Compliance Standard.

Clean Harbors Benicia, CA is looking for a Second Shift Lead Diesel Mechanic to join their safety conscious team! The Lead Diesel Mechanics are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop, which include supervising all maintenance work, assuring company fleet is within DOT compliance, as well as maintaining all service and parts records.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
• Performs preventative maintenance, conducts inspections, troubleshoots, diagnoses failures & deficiencies & performs necessary corrections. This includes conducting offsite road repairs/service calls.;
• Completes daily checklist as required for proper operation of the unit being operated.;
• Assures unit has daily maintenance duties performed and communicates any problems or issues with the unit immediately upon discovery;
• Completes and submits all associated paperwork as required for tracking PM schedules.;
• Conducts Safety Checks & Annual Vehicle Inspections in accordance with provincial & federal laws.;
• Assures that Equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements.;
• Ensures that work meets all applicable Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures.;
• Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment.;
• Performs other assignments as assigned by management.;
• Understands Clean Compliance Standard.
