Job summary

MEB is seeking a working foreman to lead a utility crew on heavy civil projects in Hampton Roads, VA. You will run daily plans, enforce safety, and perform hands-on installations of DIP, PVC, HDPE, RCP, and steel while coordinating grade and layout with basic surveying.

You will work on the tools, ensure quality and testing, manage equipment and safety, and communicate progress to the Utility Superintendent to hit look-ahead goals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in utility work with crew leadership.
• Hands-on installation across DIP, PVC, HDPE, RCP, and steel.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily pre-task plan and safety briefing; enforce trench safety and protective systems.
• Assign the day’s tasks; communicate plan and expectations; monitor quality and production.
• Work on the tools for critical operations; perform installations: pipes, manholes, tie-ins.
• Establish and hold grade control; read plans and shop drawings; basic surveying.
• Plan crew to look-ahead; provide durations to the Utility Superintendent; manage look-ahead deadlines.
• Install to spec; run testing with QC; ensure erosion control and SWPPP compliance.
• Verify daily equipment inspections; coordinate rentals; raise risks early.
