Job summary

SOLFL seeks an exceptional Upper Elementary Lead Educator (Grades 4–5) to lead a mixed-grade learning community with a strong foundation in progressive education and inquiry-based learning. You will design interdisciplinary units, engage students in authentic projects, and foster critical thinking and citizenship.

You will collaborate with families and colleagues to create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that integrate literacy, math, science, ecology, and the arts, preparing students

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required.
• Minimum of 5 years of elementary teaching experience.
• Demonstrated success teaching upper elementary (Grades 4–5).
• Experience with inquiry-based, project-based, experiential, or progressive approaches.
• Strong understanding of child development and constructivist learning theory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to design interdisciplinary curriculum and authentic assessments.

• Create authentic, real-world learning experiences connected to local communities.
