Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced Engineer Diver to join the Underwater Inspection Team in the Northeast Region. This role can be based in offices in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, South Carolina, or Florida, with flexibility depending on candidate preference.

You will lead complex field inspections, provide technical leadership, and deliver NBIS-compliant bridge and waterfront assessments. The engineer will mentor staff and interface with clients to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of bridge and/or waterfront inspection experience.
  • PE license in PA, NY, and NJ (or ability to obtain within six months).
  • NBIS Team Leader certification.
  • NBIS Underwater Bridge Inspector.
  • ADCI-certified Commercial Diver.
  • ADCI-approved Dive Physical completed within the past 12 months.
  • Demonstrated experience leading field teams with limited supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute bridge and waterfront inspections in accordance with NBIS standards and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate structural conditions and develop recommendations for repair, rehabilitation, or replacement.
  • Plan inspection approaches, including field logistics, dive operations, and staffing needs.
  • Review and finalize inspection reports for technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform and check engineering calculations related to structural assessment, load ratings, and construction inspections.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, inspectors, and dive personnel.
  • Coordinate with project managers to support schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Promote and enforce WSP’s safety culture and Safe Diving Practices.
  • Represent WSP in client meetings, field coordination, and project discussions.
  • Uphold WSP’s values through ethical decision-making and professional conduct.
