Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a skilled ultrasound technologist to acquire high-quality ultrasound images across abdominal, OB/Gyn, Doppler, and vascular studies, supporting radiologists with accurate data and patient comfort.

You will train, orient, and coach team members, ensure patient safety and privacy, coordinate scheduling for full coverage, and maintain equipment and documentation per protocols.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in abdominal, OB/GYN, Doppler, vascular and special sonography.
• Ability to operate PACS and related imaging software.
• Strong communication and collaboration with diverse teams.
• Take patient history and ensure exam accuracy and safety.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and analyze ultrasound images for radiologist interpretation.
• Perform orientation, training, and coaching of team members.
• Promote a positive patient experience with service excellence.
• Oversee quality control testing and equipment maintenance.
• Verify patient identity and exam appropriateness and document findings.

Job Description:

Schedule: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 0630-1700

Acquires and analyzes ultrasound images and data, providing complete and high-quality studies for radiologist interpretation.Performs team member orientation, training, and coaching, and provides input for performance evaluations. Promotes a positive patient experience by ensuring service excellence, effective communication, and the delivery of timely, high-quality care by the team. Other duties as assigned. Serves as a resource to department staff and other team members as needed. Supports scheduling of personnel to provide adequate coverage during all hours of operation, using flexible staffing when appropriate. Oversees quality control testing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting. Performs high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams in accordance with provider orders and established protocols. Verifies patient identity and exam appropriateness and obtains necessary clinical history prior to scanning. Positions patients and equipment appropriately and manipulates transducers and technical factors to acquire optimal images, waveforms, heart rates, and other diagnostic data. Explains procedures to patients, ensuring comfort, cooperation, and privacy throughout the exam.Completes the ultrasound technologist worksheet with accurate, clear, and concise documentation of exam findings to support radiologist review and dictation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledgeable in Abdomen, Abdominal Doppler, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/Gyn), Small Parts, Vascular and Interventional Sonographic procedures [Required]
• Ability to master new tasks related to computer software, picture archive, and communication system (PACS) [Required]
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required]
• Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner [Required]
• Ability to perform Venous Ultrasound Doppler [Required]
• Knowledge of AGFA PACS and associated equipment [Required]
• Computer skills in word processing and email such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook [Required]
• Good organizational skills [Preferred]
• Breast Sonography knowledge [Preferred]
• Pediatric and Neuro Sonography knowledge [Preferred]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Associate's in an Ultrasound Program [Preferred]
• Bachelor's in healthcare related field [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 3+ years of experience [Preferred]

Additional Information:

• One additional registry specialty to include:
• only Breast (BR)
• Fetal Echocardiography (FE)
• Musculoskeletal Sonographer Examination (MSKS)
• or Pediatric Sonography (PS)

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdominal (RDMS-AB) [Required]
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer w/ OB/GYN Spec (RDMS-OBGYN) [Required]
