Job summary

State of California, Hayward, Alameda County, is seeking a Field Survey Crew Chief / Transportation Surveyor Party Chief (Caltrans) to supervise a survey crew and oversee preliminary, control, topographic, construction and cadastral surveys.

Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Surveyor, the incumbent will train subordinates, perform survey calculations, notes, and operate precision instruments, while meeting licensing and driving requirements.

Qualifications

• Possession of a California Land Surveyor License is required and must be provided prior to hire.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license to operate state vehicles is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise field survey crew and coordinate surveys (preliminary, control, topographic, construction and cadastral).
• Train subordinates in surveying procedures, instrument operation, data calculations, and note keeping.
• Perform supervisor duties as a working first-line supervisor and conduct survey calculations.
