Job summary

SteelCon Inc. in Houston, TX seeks an Engineering Manager for Transmission Pole Structures to own design, lead external engineers, and ensure ASCE 48 compliance for monopoles and transmission poles.

You will supervise calculations, FEA, load tables, and collaboration with clients and vendors, directing internal and outsourced teams to deliver projects on schedule while maintaining safety and code standards.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering with PE licensure.
• 7+ years in structural engineering with 4+ years in tapered steel monopoles.
• Experience directing external engineering consultants and vendors.
• Expert in PLS-POLE and FEA; knowledge of Tekla or CAD workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review structural calculations and FEA for monopoles and transmission structures.
• Manage outsourced engineering firms and seal submittals.
• Ensure ASCE 48, NESC and client design parameters are followed.
• Serve as liaison with utility Engineers of Record and address RFIs.
• Oversee base plates, anchor bolts, flange connections, and slip-joint lengths.
• Support pre-bid activities with load trees and geometry optimization.
