Job summary

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in a related engineering field.
• 8+ years in transmission line engineering or similar.
• Experience with electric utilities, EPCs, or consulting firms.
• People management and mentorship experience.
• Ability to manage assignments within budget and schedule.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex transmission line designs from concept to final design.
• Provide senior technical direction to staff and ensure quality.
• Perform conductor sizing, impedance, and voltage drop analyses.
• Interpret regulatory requirements (NERC/FERC/region).
• Prepare specifications, data sheets, RFQs, and vendor drawings.
• Collaborate on scopes, budgets, and staffing plans.
• QA/QC for engineering deliverables and field issues.
• Conduct field inspections and installation reviews.
• Develop technical reports and support business development.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead and oversee complex transmission line designs from conceptual engineering through final design, including EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop analysis.
• Provide senior‑level technical expertise and direction to design staff, ensuring technical accuracy, best practices, and industry‑leading design solutions.
• Perform key engineering studies such as conductor economic evaluations, lightning performance, grounding calculations, and electrical clearance determinations per NESC and applicable standards.
• Interpret and apply regulatory requirements including NERC, FERC, and regional standards, and ensure compliance across project deliverables.
• Prepare and review technical documentation such as specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, and purchase recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers on scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, construction support, and change order management.
• Perform and review QA/QC for engineering deliverables, production drawings, CAD outputs, and construction administration activities, resolving design‑related field issues.
• Conduct and lead field inspections, measurements, calculations, and installation reviews for both public and private clients.
• Develop and present technical reports, support marketing and business development efforts, and build strong relationships with clients and contractors.
• Provide mentorship, leadership, and guidance to less experienced engineers, ensuring effective cross‑discipline communication and adherence to company safety, quality, and performance standards.

What You Need To Have (minimum Qualifications)

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related field)
• 8+ years of transmission line engineering experience (design, analysis, modeling, or similar)
• 8+ years of experience working with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm
• 8+ years of experience working in PLS‑CADD
• People management and mentorship experience
• Experience directing and reviewing the work of others for quality assurance and delivering constructive feedback
• Ability to plan and manage assignments and clearly communicate barriers to complete tasks on budget/schedule

Pay Range

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is: $119,323.00 - $202,850.00
