Job summary

Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East is seeking a hands-on Lead Tooling Engineer in Shreveport, LA, to oversee tooling design, lead projects, and drive continuous improvement in a heavy manufacturing environment. The role requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor a skilled team.

You will design dies, punches, fixtures, gauges, and tooling using Autodesk Inventor, manage vendor relationships, and ensure tooling performance on the production floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• 5+ years of tooling design experience in metal forming, forging, stamping, or heavy manufacturing.
• Proficient with 3D CAD software, Autodesk Inventor preferred.
• Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and hot‑work tooling.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and manufacturing drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead tooling design, development, and improvement projects from concept through production.
• Design dies, punches, mandrels, fixtures, gauges, and custom tooling using CAD software.
• Manage tooling projects, priorities, timelines, and vendor relationships.
• Provide technical leadership to the tool and die team.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues to improve quality and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.
