Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking a Manager of Test Operations to lead a team responsible for building, maintaining, and operating world‑class test equipment and infrastructure that supports the development and production of components and assemblies for in‑space transportation.

You will balance technical execution with people leadership, ensuring safe, reliable, and high‑quality tests while driving capability, efficiency, and test cadence.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience on flight hardware assemblies or in a test production environment.
• 5+ years of experience leading technicians or engineering teams in aerospace or similar programs.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, fluid systems, high-power and propulsion hardware.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, CAD models, and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of test technicians with a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Plan, prioritize, and execute workloads across development, qualification, and acceptance campaigns.
• Oversee fabrication, assembly, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of test equipment and infrastructure.
• Ensure safe execution of hazardous operations involving cryogenic fluids and high-energy testing.
• Partner with Test, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Controls, Avionics, and Facilities to define objectives and plans.
• Drive process improvements through standardized work, tooling, inventory, calibration, and training.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and rapid hardware iterations.
• Monitor performance, staffing, and resource allocation while developing future leaders.
