Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La Jolla invites a Tenor Section Leader to join its choir. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high-level sight-reading, blend with the section, a collaborative work ethic to support liturgical celebrations.

This part-time role includes Sunday duties at 10:30am, Tuesday rehearsals 6:00–8:00 PM, and occasional weddings. Compensation begins at $36+ per hour, with additional pay for special services.

Qualifications

• Strong sight-reading and musical abilities.
• Reliability and commitment to attend all required rehearsals and services.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Music Director and choir members.
• Familiarity with Catholic liturgical traditions.
• Compliance with diocesan safe environment requirements, including background check, fingerprinting, and training.

Responsabilités

• Provide vocal leadership at the 10:30am Choral Mass every Sunday (2+ hours/week).
• Attend Tuesday evening rehearsals 6:00–8:00 PM, Fall-Spring (2 hours/week).
• Participate in essential liturgical celebrations, including Christmas and Holy Week.
• Lead choral warm-ups and sectionals in coordination with the Music Director.
• Occasionally sing for weddings and other services (additional compensation).
