Job summary

BrightBridge Credit Union in Waltham, MA is seeking a Lead Teller to deliver exceptional member service and handle a broad range of teller transactions in a full-time role. You will support branch operations, balance cash, and assist with opening/closing duties while coaching teammates.

The role emphasizes sales-oriented service, accurate cash handling, and adherence to bank policies. Weekend availability may be required and ongoing training is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of two years customer/member service or cash handling/teller experience required.
• Minimum of one year in financial institution in a customer service oriented position preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes a wide variety of member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
• Uncovers member needs, promotes products/services, and refers to CU partners to fulfill goals.
• Assists in opening/closing the branch and serves as back-up to the Teller Operations Supervisor or Assistant Branch Manager.
• Balances the ATM.
• Opening and closing the branch.
• Trains and coaches new hires; cross-trains to develop sales skills.
• Provides assistance and coaching to other tellers.
• Prepares Check 21 deposits for the branch as needed.
• Orders and verifies daily currency shipment.
• Maintains and balances a cash vault.
• Balances cash drawer and settles the day's activities.
• Ensures cash limits are followed and cash is secure.

What You'll Be Doing (Your Responsibilities)

• Processes a wide variety of transactions for members including, but not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, payroll adjustments, bank checks, gift cards, VISA cash advances, IRA deposits/withdrawals in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures.
• Consistently develops potential new business by uncovering clues and needs during interactions with members, presenting the benefits of those products/services and referring the member to the appropriate CU partner for fulfillment. Provides the highest quality member service by listening, communicating, and referring members to appropriate personnel as necessary to meet quarterly goals.
• 3.Assists in all aspects of opening and closing the branch serves as a back-up to the Teller Operations Supervisor or Assistant Branch Manager.
• 4.Is responsible for or participates in the balancing of the ATM.
• 5.Participates in opening and closing the branch.
• 6. T rains or assists in the training of newly hired and regular staff in policies and procedures. Focuses on cross-training to develop sales and skills.
• 7.Provides assistance and coaching to other tellers as needed.
• 8.Prepares the Check 21 deposit for the Branch as needed.
• 9.Orders and verifies the daily currency shipment as needed.
• 10.Maintains and balances a cash vault.
• 11.Balances cash drawer and makes settlement of the day's activities in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures.
• 12.Ensures that cash limits are consistently followed as per established Credit Union procedures, cash is kept secure at all times and locked in the vault each night.
• 13.Interacts with members and staff on a daily basis in a prompt, effective and professional manner.
• 14.Assists members with accessing their safe deposit boxes.
• 15.Answers telephones, provides information and/or directs caller to appropriate department/employee.
• 16.Adheres to all aspects of the Credit Union Bank Secrecy Act policy and procedures.
• 17.Ability to work some Saturdays during the month and occasionally provides temporary coverage in alternate locations for an unplanned absence situation.
• 18.Works towards achieving sale/service goals by attending department meetings, on-on-one meetings, and product knowledge and selling skills training on an ongoing basis.
• 19. Performs additional duties as requested.

What We’re Looking For (Your Qualifications)

• Minimum of two years customer/member service or cash handling/teller experience required.
• Minimum of one year in financial institution in a customer service oriented position preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with members and staff are essential.
• Basic math skills; familiarity with keyboard/personal computer; customer/member service skills; effective written and verbal communication /interpersonal skills and data entry skills required.
• Proven cross sales ability required.
• Flexibility of work hours and proven reliability/dependability required.

Physical Demands, Equipment Used, and Work Environment

• Prolonged standing or sitting. Walking to vaults, drive-up windows, or office equipment.
• Counting cash, handling physical documents, and typing.
• Close visual acuity to view screens and verify signatures.
• Lifting coin bags or boxes of printed materials up to 25 lbs
• Regular attendance and office mobility required. Attendance at appropriate conferences, meetings, and other travel as needed are required.
