Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Technician to support a large-scale data center build focused on conveyance infrastructure including cable tray, ladder rack, basket tray, trapezes, hangers, and pathway installation.

The role provides day-to-day field leadership, coordinates technician activities, ensures safety compliance, and upholds quality installation standards while collaborating with the Superintendent and Project Manager to scale the field team throughout the project.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years in structured cabling or low-voltage work.
• Experience leading field crews in data center or mission-critical environments.
• Ability to read construction drawings and installation plans.
• Strong OSHA knowledge and safety practices.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily activities of on-site technicians.
• Direct installation of cable pathways and related infrastructure.
• Receive and organize project materials and deliveries.
• Assign tasks and monitor crew productivity.
• Maintain daily reports and progress updates.
• Assist with manpower planning and scheduling.

• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Mentor and onboard new technicians.

Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Technician to support a large-scale data center build focused primarily on conveyance infrastructure including cable tray, ladder rack, basket tray, trapezes, hangers, and pathway installation. The Lead Technician will provide day-to-day field leadership, coordinate technician activities, maintain safety compliance, and ensure quality installation standards are met.

This individual will work closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to support project execution while helping lead a growing field team expected to scale significantly throughout the project.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate daily activities of low-voltage technicians onsite
• Direct installation of cable pathways including:
• Basket tray
• Ladder rack
• Trapeze systems
• Supports and hangers
• Pathway infrastructure
• Receive and organize project materials and deliveries
• Assign daily work tasks and monitor crew productivity
• Maintain accurate daily reports and progress updates
• Assist with manpower planning and technician scheduling
• Read and interpret construction drawings and project documentation
• Ensure all work meets customer and IES quality standards
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings
• Maintain a clean and organized jobsite
• Partner with leadership to identify installation challenges and recommend solutions
• Support onboarding and mentoring of new technicians

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of structured cabling, telecommunications, or low-voltage experience
• Previous leadership experience leading crews in the field
• Experience working in data center or mission-critical environments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to read construction drawings and installation plans
• Basic Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience coordinating technician schedules and field activities
• Strong understanding of OSHA and jobsite safety practices
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
