EMCOR Group, Inc. is seeking a Lead Technician in Downers Grove, IL to lead field operations, direct technicians, and ensure safe, efficient maintenance across multiple sites. The role emphasizes prioritizing tasks, supporting billable work, and training new staff.
You will perform preventative maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks while adhering to safety standards and company procedures. Travel between properties is required.

We provide comprehensive facility services ranging from mechanical maintenance and self-performed, site-based operations to energy-efficiency upgrades and supplier-managed interior/exterior maintenance.
Lead Technicians are the tactical leader within the region that they serve. Their duties include but are not limited to providing tactical direction, establishing priorities, assigning tasks, coordinating projects, and providing expertise and support technicians at the job site. Lead Technicians are responsible for ensuring technicians perform work safely and are trained in both the technical skill sets and administrative functions. They are expected to apply 95% of their time to billable work orders
Completes preventative maintenance and repairs per work order requirements. Self performs the following duties in compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements and safety standards.
Education (HS Diploma, Under/Graduate Degree, etc.)
HS diploma or Degree/Certification, or equivalent professional experience in Landscaping, Trades (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc.), or Specialty Floor Care, preferred.
Business Experience (prior years’ work/related experience)
Five or more years mechanical experience, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry required; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades.
Licenses/Certifications
Must possess applicable certifications, licenses, and valid driver’s license in good standing.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to, safety policies operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.
Technical Qualifications & Skills
Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner and communicate work order status via designated business process.
Ability to use and operate handheld device and business systems or document management Database software, including but not limited to Microsoft office, Microsoft Outlook (email), MS office (word, Excel).
Comply with all applicable codes, regulation, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety. Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.Maintain adequate knowledge of and always comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and Company Safety policies.
Experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
Daily local travel between properties.
Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Frequently is required to climb or balance. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is considered normal. Required to drive a company vehicle daily. Work in an environment where the following safety equipment is needed; steel toe shoes, hearing protection, noise protection, hardhat, eye protection, hand protection, etc. Abide by OSHA guidelines including lock-out/tag-out and HAZCOM guidelines and all other Company and Customer driven safety initiatives. Hours of work are solely defined and governed by business volume and contract schedules. Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm in the face of the customer.
