Job summary

Rohde & Schwarz is seeking a Lead Technical Writer to guide a small team and serve as a senior individual contributor for operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting documentation. The role interfaces with system engineering, software development, and customer stakeholders to produce clear, accurate manuals.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's in a related field, 10+ years in technical writing with PM experience, and familiarity with IP networking or VoIP documentation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of technical writing experience including project management.
• Experience leading a small team is a plus.
• FAA documentation experience is preferred.
• Experience with IP networking or VoIP systems is advantageous.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
• Proficiency with Word, Acrobat, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, Visio.
• Familiarity with HTML/XML/SGML and ASD S1000D is helpful.
• Must be able to travel up to 15%, including internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead project plans for creating and delivering technical manuals for air traffic control systems.
• Authors and maintains system maintenance and operation manuals, parts breakdowns, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with SMEs to translate complex information into user-friendly manuals.
• Create diagrams, workflows, and figures for clear user guidance.
• Mentor writers and manage workload and standards.
• Coordinate with Service Operations, Production, PM, and Engineering on status and risk.
• Manage baselines, version control, and track engineering changes.
