Job summary

Ford Energy is seeking a lead technical solutions engineer to scope, configure, and optimize grid-scale battery energy storage system projects across U.S. markets.

You will model system sizing, interconnection readiness, LCOS/NPV, and draft technical contract exhibits while ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will collaborate with simulation teams, interface with customers, and present Ford Energy’s value proposition to executives to ensure fast, accurate, bankable proposals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or related engineering field and 5+ years in energy tech.
  • Proven track record in technical contracting and financial modeling for large energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of power systems and battery technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical scoping and configuration of BESS projects, including system sizing (MW/MWh), augmentation strategies, and site layout optimizations.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead for project configurations before they move to final proposal.
  • Interface with simulation team to model battery degradation, round‑trip efficiency, and financial performance for specific use cases such as peak shaving or renewable integration.
  • Develop technical financial models, including LCOS and NPV analysis, ensuring solutions meet customer financial hurdles and Ford Energy’s margin targets.
  • Draft and negotiate technical exhibits for commercial contracts, ensuring performance guarantees are accurately reflected and achievable.
  • Provide expertise on regional grid requirements and interconnection standards for major energy markets (ERCOT, CAISO).
  • Ensure all project designs and configurations adhere to industry safety standards, UL 9540A and NFPA 855.
  • Serve as SME during customer meetings, delivering presentations and product demonstrations highlighting Ford Energy’s advantages.
  • Support development of technical documentation and certification planning to ensure market access and customer confidence.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer for Ford Energy Product Engineering teams, providing feedback on market requirements to influence the product roadmap.
  • Continuously improve technical solution workflows and review processes to increase speed, quality, and consistency of customer proposals.
