Job summary

CompuNet Clinical Laboratories in Dayton, OH is seeking a Full-Time Evening Shift Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and oversee ETC testing and QC activities. The role includes training new staff, maintenance of equipment, and collaboration with site managers and technical directors.

The position requires ASCP certification or equivalent and 1 year of Chemistry testing experience, with strong leadership and communication skills. Evening hours, weekends and holidays rotation apply.

Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science; ASCP certification or comparable required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of Chemistry testing experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with people.
  • Sound reasoning ability and good independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine technical work as assigned by the Shift or Site Manager or Team Leader.
  • Perform and record routine maintenance and quality control on all equipment or reagents used for testing.
  • Provide guidance for department members for any questions or problems that arise with ETC testing. Follow any problems through to completion and communicate with appropriate managers and next shift if appropriate.
  • Coordinate training for new department members, and when new instruments or procedures are introduced.
  • Oversee ETC PT testing through CAP or other agencies as well as competency assessment and provide additional training if the need is identified.
  • Submits QC for peer statistics, reviews QC and maintenance records and reviews issues and concerns with Technical directors and site manager where applicable.
  • Serve as the liaison between the department or shift and the Site Manager and Chemistry and Hematology Technical Directors as appropriate.
  • Assist with the introduction of new analyzers and troubleshooting of current Chemistry analyzers. If appropriate, serve as the key operator and attend manufacturer training for new Chemistry analyzers.
  • Perform any specialized studies, reagent coordination, instrument calibration, or any other duties assigned by the Chemistry and Hematology Technical Directors.
  • Address client questions and problems in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories by performing other duties as required.

Located at Miami Valley Hospital's Technical Department (Dayton, OH)

Full-Time Evening Shift (11am to 7:30pm) With Weekend & Holiday Rotation

Position Summary:

Perform and report laboratory tests within established guidelines, and under direction of the Chemistry and Hematology Technical Director and site manager, oversee ETC training, special projects, QC reviews, Proficiency testing, resolution of instrument or specimen problems, and ensure adherence to technical procedures and regulations.

  • Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
  • Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
