Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Marietta, GA is seeking a Lead Environmental Services Technician to oversee daily cleaning operations and act as shift lead in the supervisor's absence. You’ll coordinate staff, run huddles, and train teammates to uphold safety and cleanliness across patient areas and support spaces.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of healthcare environmental services experience, a high school diploma, strong customer service, and proven ability to work in fast-paced hospital settings

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of housekeeping/environmental services experience in Healthcare, Hospitality, or Class A facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift operations and coordinate labor based on facility needs.
• Conduct team huddles and assist with staff reassignments.
• Serve as a preceptor and trainer for new employees.
• Perform and oversee cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms and surgical suites, emergency and inpatient areas, and public and administrative spaces.
• Inspect work areas to ensure quality standards are met.
• Reinforce infection prevention and HCAHPS-related practices.
• Order supplies, maintain inventory, and minimize waste.
• Promote excellent customer service and teamwork.
• Maintain compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational policies.

Position Overview

The Lead Environmental Services Technician supports daily Environmental Services operations and serves as the shift lead in the supervisor's absence. This role ensures hospital areas remain clean, safe, and sanitary while coordinating staff assignments, leading huddles, training team members, and maintaining productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with terminal cleaning in OR, ER, and inpatient units.
• Knowledge of floor care and maintenance equipment.
• Inventory and supply ordering experience.
• Basic Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced healthcare environments and handle exposure to hazardous and infectious materials.
