Job summary

Celebree School of The Woodlands Creekside is seeking a Kindergarten Lead Teacher to plan and implement classroom operations that align with Celebree’s mission and state regulations. You will mentor the assistant teacher, collaborate closely with families, and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment following the school curriculum.

The role requires experience as a lead teacher, familiarity with The Creative Curriculum and related tools, and ongoing commitment to professional development

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a lead teacher in a licensed preschool, pre-K, or kindergarten classroom.
  • Texas teaching certification (EC–6 or EC–12) or progress toward certification for Kindergarten.
  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or equivalent for pre-K.
  • Experience with The Creative Curriculum, HWT, phonic system, Conscious Discipline, or similar whole-child frameworks preferred.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Kindergarten Lead Teacher plans and implements all classroom operations to uphold Celebree’s mission, vision, and values while providing a developmentally appropriate, safe, and engaging learning environment following the curriculum of the school. The Lead Teacher mentors the assistant teacher, partners closely with families, and ensures full compliance with Texas licensing standards and Celebree policies and procedures

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction (Celebree Standards)
  • Implement the lesson plans as per the school curriculum and programs and Celebree monthly teaching guides, Handwriting without Tears and phonic system, to address all developmental domains (social‑emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and early academics).
  • Create and implement thorough, timely, age‑appropriate lesson plans aligned with weekly/monthly themes and Celebree curriculum expectations.
  • Use purposeful play, hands‑on exploration, and differentiated instruction to build early literacy, pre‑math, science, social studies, and fine arts skills.
  • Conduct ongoing formative assessments using observations, checklists, and portfolios tied to The Creative Curriculum’s objectives; CLI goals and data to inform instruction and share progress with families.
  • Prepare children for a successful transition to kindergarten or 1 st grade focusing on self‑regulation, independence, and advanced academic skills.
Classroom Environment & Management
  • Maintain a welcoming, friendly classroom environment for children, parents, and visitors; ensure attractive, current classroom/hallway displays and an informative, regularly updated Parent Board.
  • Establish consistent routines and use Conscious Discipline and positive guidance techniques to support self‑control, cooperation, and responsibility.
  • Ensure the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom meet Celebree standards and Texas Minimum Standards and TEAKS.
  • Assist and supervise children during all activities, indoor and outdoor, maintaining required ratios and active supervision at all times as per TRS.
  • Greet parents by name, address concerns promptly, give positive feedback, and provide regular updates on each child’s development and classroom happenings (e.g., daily reports, conferences, digital communication).
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with families; collaborate on goals and strategies to support each child’s growth.
  • Communicate professionally and consistently with the School Director and team.
  • Attend all team meetings, trainings, and school events as requested (e.g., open houses, family nights, tours); limit unscheduled absences.
  • Maintain compliance with all Texas licensing regulations and Celebree policies and procedures.
  • Maintain required certifications and training, including CPR/First Aid and minimum annual continuing education/CEU requirements per Celebree and state standards.
Experience
