Job summary

Yellowstone Club seeks a Lead Teacher for Gallatin River Childcare to provide direct care and lead Waldorf-inspired curriculum across Montana locations. You will model developmentally appropriate behavior, supervise assistants, and maintain a safe, engaging environment for children.

Responsibilities include daily care, planning activities, communicating with families, and ensuring program quality while meeting state requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Two years in an early childhood program or Level 2+ on the ECP Practitioners Registry.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days).
  • Must meet Montana state requirements (immunization, background checks, health attestation).
  • Be at least 18 years old and able to obtain required orientations.

Responsibilities

  • Model and teach developmentally appropriate behavior and interactions.
  • Provide daily care to meet each child’s needs.
  • Follow classroom schedules and routines.
  • Guide Assistant Teachers in daily tasks.
  • Plan and execute Waldorf‑inspired curriculum with children.
  • Maintain a clean, organized space and participate in safety protocols.

Job description

Gallatin River Childcare is currently seeking candidates for a Lead Teacher. We have opportunities for both full-time year-round and part-time positions across our two locations in Gallatin Gateway, Montana and Big Sky, Montana.

Purpose:

To provide direct care in a safe and enriching environment to children.

Compensation:

Lead Teacher positions range from $23 to $25 per hour. Roles at our Big Sky location include a $3 per hour shift differential.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Model and teach developmentally appropriate behavior and interactions between children and adults.
  • Provide daily care to meet the needs of every child.
  • Follow day-to-day classroom schedules, routines, and activities.
  • Guide Assistant Teachers in daily tasks.
  • Help children to reach developmental milestones through the Waldorf style of education.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and tidy space.
  • Perform additional cleaning duties as needed.
  • Communicate with families' daily updates.
  • Occasionally preparing and serving meals to children (including baby foods & making bottles)
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all children
  • Plan and execute Waldorf-Inspired curriculum
  • Independently schedule and meet with parents often to discuss child development
  • Track and assess each child’s progress

Montana State Requirements
  • Meet immunization requirements pursuant to ARM 37.95.184
  • Have appropriate background checks pursuant to ARM 37.95.161
  • Sign a health attestation.
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Complete facility overview on-the-job training
  • Be current on the ECP Practitioner Registry
  • Have current certification for infant, child, and adult CPR and infant choking response, and pediatric first aid. (CPR certification must be completed in a hands-on setting or within 30 days of hire)
  • Successfully complete required early childhood teacher orientation as indicated in 37.95.163
  • Have the following training and experience:
    • Two years in an early childhood program such as a licensed or registered child care facility, or Head Start, plus 32 hours of ECP training OR
    • level 2 or higher on the ECP Practitioners Registry
Experience/Education Preferred

3 yr experience in a childcare setting preferred

ECE or related field preferred

Certificates & Licenses

Current CPR/First Aid Certification or can be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Current on the MTECP Registry.

Computer Skills

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Teams products. Able to navigate communication applications on a phone or other device.

Language Ability

Able to speak clearly, effectively and professionally with parents, children and co-workers. Able to write legibly and clearly, communicating in a precise and respectful manner.

Math Ability

Able to perform basic math calculations.

Reasoning Ability

An ability to identify and solve basic problems and/or know when it is necessary to get a manager to assist in problem solving.
