Job summary

The Goddard School is seeking a passionate Lead Teacher to join our Henrico, VA location. You will implement developmentally appropriate lessons, guided by our Wonder of Learning program, to support each child’s growth.

Our team fosters a nurturing environment focused on student success, family partnerships, and ongoing professional development. You will collaborate with a supportive team to create engaging daily activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• CDA preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool.
• State-required pre-service training completed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Implement age-appropriate lesson plans using our Wonder of Learning curriculum.
• Create a safe, nurturing, inclusive classroom environment.
• Maintain open communication with families about child progress.
• Supervise children to uphold health, safety, licensing regulations.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
• Observe and document learning to inform activities for families.
• Collaborate with Assistant and Resource Teachers.
• Model positive guidance for social-emotional growth.
