Job summary

Brightpoint seeks a Lead Teacher for ages 3-5 at the Schaumburg Child & Family Center to implement Head Start standards and deliver individualized learning plans tailored to each child’s social, emotional, developmental, and cognitive needs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in ECE (or related field), IL PEL or within 24 months, and Level 5 Gateways credentials, plus at least two years’ experience with children and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field.
• Illinois PEL required or must be obtained within 24 months.
• Gateways Level 5 Credential required.
• Minimum of two years working with children and/or families.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements individualized learning addressing social, emotional, developmental, and intellectual needs.
• Maintains knowledge of Head Start standards, ISBE requirements, and NAEYC requirements.
• Implements curriculum to support high quality teaching and learning.
• Conducts developmental screenings and assessments and uses results for lesson planning.
• Enters data on children, including assessments, into the data management system.
• Identifies children needing extra support and coordinates referrals.
• Completes weekly child observations and logs them in the organization’s assessment tool.
• Meets weekly with staff to review lesson plans and progress.
• Mentors and trains teachers, aides, interns, and volunteers in classroom techniques.
• Assists supervisor with performance reviews for classroom staff.
• Leads integration of parental learning activities and connects home to classroom learning.
• Completes monthly reports and other required documentation.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL)

Gateways to Opportunity Level 5 Credential
