Job summary

The Goddard School of Raleigh North Hills, NC is seeking a passionate Lead Teacher to join our school. You will lead daily activities, implement our Wonder of Learning curriculum, and create a nurturing environment for young children.

You will collaborate with a supportive team, communicate with families, and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and ensure a safe, engaging classroom.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • CDA certification preferred
  • 1–2 years experience in licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
  • Has state-required pre-service training
  • Develops relationships and communicates effectively with children, families and faculty members
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in handling children

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum and Instruction: Implement age-appropriate lesson plans using our Wonder of Learning curriculum to engage each child’s growth
  • Classroom Management: Create a safe, nurturing, inclusive classroom environment
  • Family Communication: Maintain open, effective communication with families and guardians about progress and activities
  • Health and Safety: Supervise children to uphold health, safety standards and licensing regulations
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Assessment and Documentation: Observe and document children’s learning to inform activities and share insights with families
  • Team Collaboration: Support Assistant Teachers and Resource Teachers
  • Behavior Guidance: Model positive guidance to support social-emotional growth and conflict resolution

Lead Teacher Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
