Job summary

Kirkland Children's School is seeking a Lead Teacher to lead the classroom, supervise assistants, and ensure children are cared for, safe, and engaged. You will communicate with parents regularly and collaborate with administrators to deliver the curriculum and daily activities.

The role requires 18+, relevant education or experience in child development, and compliance with WA immunization, first aid/CPR, and mandated reporter standards. Full-time in Kirkland, WA.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have completed High School or the equivalent.
• Must have documented child development education or WA STARS experience within six months of hire.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal resident status and pass background check.
• Must meet WA immunization, first aid and CPR requirements and be aware of mandated reporter rules.

Responsibilities

• Lead the classroom as primary leader and supervise the assistant/float teachers.
• Direct activities of children, ensure safety and engagement.
• Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis and coordinate with school administrators to deliver curriculum.

Job description

Lead Teacher

The Lead Teacher is the primary classroom leader and as such directs the actions of the assistant teacher and any float teachers, but also is responsible for the overall activities of the children and their care. He/she will communicate with the parents on an ongoing basis, will interact with the children to ensure they are properly cared for and kept safe and engaged, and will work with the school administrators to deliver the curriculum and perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$22-32 per hour, depending on education/experience

Job Type

Usually FT, but may be PT depending on need

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have completed High School or the equivalent.
• Must have documented child development education or work experience in the WA state "STARS" system within six months of hire.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal resident alien status and successfully pass a criminal background check.
• Must meet all the state requirements for immunizations, first aid and CPR certification, as well as understanding the WA state rules around being a mandated reporter of any suspected child abuse or neglect.
