Job summary

Credit Union 1 in Anchorage, AK, is seeking a Lead Teacher to guide a classroom with safety, connection, and developmentally appropriate learning. The role is based at Abbott Headquarters (1941 Abbott Rd.) and requires two years of early childhood teaching experience, a high school diploma or CDA, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CD A in age-specific area (Toddlers or Preschool) or equivalent training.
  • Two years of teaching experience in an early childhood program.
  • CPR/First Aid for Adult, Infant and Child certification.
  • Attendance and English language proficiency required.
  • NAEYC accreditation/licensing knowledge referenced in role.

Responsibilities

  • CURRICULUM PLANNING: design and implement an emergent, DPI/NAEYC-aligned curriculum.
  • COMMUNICATION: maintain clear verbal and written communication with families and staff.
  • DAILY ACTIVITIES: plan developmentally appropriate learning experiences for diverse children.
  • DOCUMENTATION: record and showcase children's development with artifacts and notes.
  • CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT: create a safe, organized and stimulating space.
  • HEALTH & SAFETY: supervise children and enforce infection control and safety procedures.
  • TRAINING & EDUCATION: maintain CPR/First Aid certification and meet licensing standards.
  • CLASSROOM OPERATIONS: ensure compliance with policies while evaluating program effectiveness.

Pay or shift range: $21.79 to $30.28 per hour. At Credit Union 1, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and transparent workplace. In line with our salary administration policy, starting base salaries for new hires typically fall in-between the minimum and midpoint of the designated pay range.

We're looking for a passionate and dedicated Lead Teacher to join our team! In this role, you'll lead a classroom environment where children feel safe, supported and inspired to learn. You'll plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate curriculum that meets NAYC accreditation and licensing standards, while fostering a space that celebrates diversity and developmental need. As a Lead Teacher, you'll build meaningful connections with children, families, and teammates, ensuring clear communication and a strong sense of community.

This position is located at our Abbott Headquarters (1941 Abbott Rd.)

Pay Range: $21.79/hr. - $30.28/hr.

Essential Job Functions
  • CURRICULUM PLANNING: Designs and implements an emergent curriculum founded on Developmentally Appropriate Practice and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
  • COMMUNICATION: Communicates appropriately (verbal and written) with children, parents/families, teaching and management teams.
  • DAILY ACTIVITIES: Plans and Facilitates developmentally appropriate learning experiences, activities and interactions that recognize age/diversity specific need/issues of customers served.
  • DOCUMENTATION: Completes forms and records related to children’s development and learning experiences. Documentation includes children’s original work, photographs, anecdotal records and other appropriate recording and assessment tools.
  • CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT: Creates and maintains a safe, organized, well supplied and varied learning environment.
  • HEALTH & SAFETY: Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy environment through adequate supervision of children and implementation of infection control procedures. Helps to ensure the safety of equipment and materials. Maintains a first aid kit.
  • TRAINING & EDUCATION: Current infant/child CPR/first aid certification. Meets licensing requirements and NAEYC Accreditation standards for continuing education.
  • CLASSROOM OPERATIONS: Complies with licensing and NAEYC Accreditation standards while implementing Developmentally Appropriate Practice. Evaluates program effectiveness and makes adjustments and accommodations when appropriate.

  • Meets the current standards as established for the department in the completion of all assigned duties.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Essential Job Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. CDA in age specific area ex: Toddlers or Preschool, and/or additional training and course work in early childhood education.
  • Experience: At least two years experience teaching in an early childhood program and a working knowledge of licensing and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
  • Licensure/Certification: Adult, Infant and Child CPR / First Aid required.
  • Other Qualifications: N/A
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
  • English Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • NAEYC: Basic membership will be purchased for employee following 6 months of employment if they don't already have a membership. If they already have a membership, the renewal will be paid by the credit union if they are still employed here.
  • Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC).
