Job summary

General Motors is seeking a seasoned supply chain professional to lead cross-functional efforts across purchasing, engineering and manufacturing to resolve critical supply issues and support business transfers. The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.

The position is hybrid, reporting to GM facilities with travel up to 75%, including weekends on occasion.

Job DescriptionThe Role:Working cross-functionally with Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Containerization, Logistics and GM assembly / manufacturing plants to facilitate critical supply issues and business transfers. This group deals with short term capacity issues caused by broken tools or equipment, fires, floods, and any other related supplier shortage issues.What You'll Do:Support / Lead conference calls with business transfers and critical supply issuesFunction as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide technical supportDetermine the cause of supplier delivery problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutionsHelp assess and assist in the development and implementation of corrective actions for critical issuesImprove delivery performance of suppliers by identifying process improvements and lead time reduction opportunitiesMay participate as member or resource to product development teamsRegularly exchange information with others inside and outside the work group including GM and supplier facilitiesWork with Supplier Risk Management team with Financially Troubled SuppliersLead and support Proactive and Predictive strategy vision and engage in projects related to developing this strategyUnderstand and implement standardize work practices.Keep management updated frequently , consistent with the issues urgencyProvide Executive Reports as RequiredYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) : 5+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, industrial, manufacturing, or logisticsExpect to travel spontaneously 75% domestically/Internationally at Suppliers Overnight + WeekendsMust have a valid passportWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) :Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, related field5+ years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing Operations3+ years of experience in die casting or machining operationsExcellent communication and command skills are necessary to be successful in this position.Broad understanding of manufacturing processes including , material handling, Inventory management, OEE, Capacity , throughput etc.Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and supplier to solve problems and resolve issues.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex cases and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results.Ability to prepare and present information to various levels and audiences.GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
