Job summary

Visionist, Inc. is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer with a current Top Secret/SCI clearance and polygraph to guide two system administrators and collaborate with a 25+ engineering team.

You will shape architecture, ensure security compliance, and drive automation across EC2, on-prem, and hybrid environments. You will apply expertise in Linux, cloud services, containerization, and observability tools to reinforce mission-critical systems for the Intelligence Community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field; 12+ years of system engineering experience.
• Strong Linux administration (RHEL9) and system automation expertise.
• Experience with cloud, containers, and observability tools.
• Security clearance: Active TS/SCI with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and direct two system administrators.
• Guide overall system architecture and coordination with software teams.
• Maintain health and availability of EC2, on-prem, and hybrid environments.
• Oversee security, SSP accreditation, and disaster recovery planning.
• Develop automation, monitoring, and backup strategies across environments.
• Maintain CI/CD and deployment automation using GitLab.
• Create and maintain system documentation and post-mortems.
