Leidos’ Defense Sector - Directed Energy Division in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for Integration and Test. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians in the integration, test, demonstration, and deployment of large Directed Energy Systems.

The role requires coordinating hardware/software integration in secure environments, mentoring staff, and delivering detailed verification documentation. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 8+ years of professional experience; or a master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience integrating hardware.
  • Experience coordinating schedules with subcontractors and USG partners.
  • Current DoD Secret clearance with ability to move to Top Secret.
  • Experience leading and directing activities of a team.
  • Experience with workload, staffing, and personnel management.
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers.
  • Experience with complex, large systems.
  • Experience with conducting technical reviews with a government agency / customer.

Leidos’ Defense Sector - Directed Energy Division in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for Integration and Test to join our team of talented scientists, engineers, and program staff focused on advancing Directed Energy systems.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage team of engineers and technicians for the integration, test, demonstration, and deployment of large Directed Energy Systems.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of hardware and software integration efforts within a secure IT environment.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system-level issues.
  • Analyze integration and test results, identify root causes, and provide detailed technical documentation supporting issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering team to design tests which provide requirement verification and develop test reports for verification artifacts.
  • Support the development and updating of systems engineering documentation, such as requirements verification matrices and architectural design documents using MSBE.
  • Manage cost, schedule, workload for assigned team members and cost accounts.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of hardware and software integration efforts.
  • Mentor junior engineers for career growth and opportunities.
  • Track and report execution status, generating detailed reports and presentation packages for stakeholders and clients.
  • Manage and track schedules, risks, opportunities, defects, change requests, and action items.
  • Facilitate planning meetings, peer reviews, and customer-facing sessions to aligned to objectives and schedules.
  • Collaborate with developers, integrators, and schedulers to ensure schedules are aligned with project timelines.
  • Mentor and train team members on tools, processes, and applications.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 8+ years of professional experience; or a master’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 6+ years of professional experience.

Desired Skills
  • Preference shown to candidates who possess a Bachelors or Master of Science in System Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with direct systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with CAMEO for MBSE.
  • The successful candidate will possess leadership skills and team collaboration experience
  • Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to fast-paced and highly productive work environment
  • Experience with Direct Energy technology such as High-Power Microwaves and Lasers

Pay Range

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
