Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. in Waco, TX, seeks a Lead Surveyor to oversee complex land development, infrastructure, and construction surveys. You will direct field and office activities, ensuring quality control, adherence to standards, and timely deliverables for diverse projects.

The role requires mentoring staff, coordinating with design teams, and advancing operational efficiency through advanced survey technologies such as GNSS, LiDAR, and UAV mapping.

Competenze

  • Eight+ years of surveying experience with leadership of field crews or project components.
  • PLS licensure is required.
  • Strong knowledge of boundary and topographic surveys, construction layout, and control networks.

Mansioni

  • Lead and oversee field survey operations including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and control surveys.
  • Direct survey planning, data collection strategies, and field crew coordination.

Purpose

Lead and manage surveying efforts for complex land development, infrastructure, and construction projects. Applies advanced technical expertise to oversee survey planning, field operations, data analysis, and deliverables. Provides mentorship to staff, ensures high-quality results, and supports efficient project execution while contributing to operational excellence and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for survey teams on complex or large-scale projects.
  • Supervise and mentor Surveyors I–III and Surveyors in Training to support professional growth and technical development.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct field and office survey activities.
  • Ensure adherence to established surveying standards, procedures, and quality control expectations.
  • Review and approve survey work products, methodologies, and workflows.
  • Serve as a resource for resolving complex technical survey challenges.
At the Operational and Company Level
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and construction teams to support integrated project delivery.
  • Contribute to resource planning, scheduling, and workload management for survey teams.
  • Support project managers in scope development, budgeting, and scheduling of survey activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across project teams.
  • Assist in identifying process improvements, technology enhancements, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Participate in client interaction and support relationship development through technical expertise and service delivery.
  • Support company initiatives, training programs, and operational improvements.

Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Eight or more (8+) years of relevant surveying experience, including leadership of field crews or project components.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure required.
  • Strong knowledge of boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, and control networks.
  • Proficiency with survey equipment including GNSS, robotic total stations, and data collectors.
  • Advanced experience with survey and CAD software such as Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, MicroStation, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of coordinate systems, survey adjustments, and data processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with survey standards, regulations, and quality control practices.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
