Leidos LLC is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to drive substation physical design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time delivery. You will coordinate with internal engineering groups and clients to align expectations and deliver robust solutions.

The role requires a PE license, 8+ years of experience in substation design, and ability to travel to project sites as needed. Strong QA/QC, communication, and team leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; 8+ years in substation physical design.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
• Strong communication skills with internal teams and clients.
• Ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Team player able to provide leadership when needed.
• Self-starter with initiative and minimal supervision.
• Proficient with engineering tools and software; PE license preferred.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation physical design projects with quality and on-time performance.
• Collaborate with internal engineering groups and external clients to meet needs and deliver solutions.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of design packages for accuracy and constructibility.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings (one-lines, three-lines, plan-views, grounding layouts).
• Create and verify BOMs for substation components; ensure alignment with requirements.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
• Adhere to quality control and safe work practices while managing scope, schedule, and budget.
• Work within a design team of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians; implement client standards.
