We are seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to join our dynamic Atlanta, GA team. As a key member, you will collaborate with various electric utility disciplines, leading and designing high voltage substation projects. The Role:

1. Design HV and MV substations physically and electrically, including layouts, electrical arrangements, drawings, grounding, and systems.
2. Conduct engineering studies and calculations.
3. Perform quality control reviews on substation design projects.
4. Create and review bills of materials.
5. Develop proposals and scope of work documents.
6. Deliver technical presentations for staff development.
7. Engage in client interactions and site visits, ensuring customer satisfaction.
8. Lead and mentor junior engineers.
9. Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients to achieve project goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field with 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Leadership experience in substation projects.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience leading bids and proposals for utility clients.
• Ability to perform quality control on design projects.
• Supervisory experience with 1-6 direct reports.
• Proficiency in reading and designing substation physical and protection/control drawings.
• Ability to prepare bills of materials and define design scope and methodologies.
• Experience with grounding, lightning, and lighting studies.
• Willingness to attend site visits.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PE license.
• Master’s degree.
• Experience with QA/QC processes.
• Knowledge of protection/control design and BUS calculations.
• Experience with WinIGS, CDEGS, or SDS AutoCAD Electrical.
