Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to drive high‑impact substation design projects in the power delivery domain. You’ll work on 12 kV up to 500 kV systems, shaping grounding, layout, and protection studies, with a focus on safety, constructability, and reliability.
Hybrid schedule: 3 days in Charlotte, NC, or remote. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of design experience are required, with PE preferred.

You’ll work on utility systems ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV, contributing to major grid‑modernization efforts and supporting how renewable generation connects to the grid. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in digital logic design and AC/DC circuits to develop safe, reliable, and efficient substation physical layouts. From equipment arrangement to grounding and structural components, you’ll help shape the next generation of substation projects powering communities.
Hybrid Schedule: 3-days a week in the Charlotte, NC office OR Remote:

This position will be a member of a design team comprised of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians and will work with client standards to implement design.

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
