Description

We are seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to join our dynamic Atlanta, GA team. As a key member, you will collaborate with various electric utility disciplines, leading and designing high voltage substation projects. REMOTE and HYBRID support available!

• Support can be remote; candidates must reside within the U.S. and be willing to attend meetings and site visits in the Atlanta area.

The Role

• Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV substation physical/electrical design, including layouts, drawings, grounding, and system schematics.
• Conduct engineering studies and quality reviews on substation projects.
• Create and review bills of materials and develop proposals and scopes of work.
• Present technical information to teams and interact with clients, including site visits.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, ensuring project objectives are met through effective communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field with 8+ years of substation design experience.
• Leadership experience in substation projects and ability to lead bids and proposals.
• Proficiency in reading and designing substation physical and protection/control drawings.
• Experience with grounding, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
• Ability to supervise 1-6 direct reports.

Preferred

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.)
• Master’s degree and experience with QA/QC, protection/control design, BUS calculations, WinIGS or CDEGS, and AutoCAD Electrical.
