Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Structures Engineer to lead the structural design efforts for autonomous maritime technologies and ASV platforms. You will ensure integrity and reliability by applying structural mechanics and hands-on prototyping.

Responsibilities include design ownership through gates, reviews, and collaboration with hardware and production teams. Strong FEA skills and NX/SolidWorks experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in structural analysis and simulation using stress hand calculations and FEA software (Femap preferred or ANSYS).
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics and materials science with real-world application.

Responsibilities

• Own structural design of ASV systems and subsystems from concept through prototyping and production.
• Maintain and track design gates (PDR, CDR) and schedules for owned hardware.
• Prepare and conduct design reviews of owned structural systems/subsystems.
• Support initial prototyping and build of new ASV platforms and variants.
• Support procurement of prototype hardware and supplier selection process.
• Produce engineering design definition artifacts including 3D models (NX or SolidWorks) and 2D drawings (ASME Y14.5).
• Conduct preliminary structural sizing by hand calculations based on design requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware, product development, and production to optimize designs for load cases.
• Generate technical reports and documentation to communicate design decisions and rationale to teams.
