Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead Structural Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN, offering a hybrid work arrangement with remote and in-office work. The role involves leading design efforts, producing calculations, drawings, and specifications for multi-disciplinary projects, and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements include US citizenship and the ability to obtain clearance, ABET-accredited BSSE/MSSE, and 12+ years of structural engineering experience, with travel to project locations as needed.

Responsibilities

This position allows for a hybrid arrangement with a mix of work from home and in the office.

This is a lead-level design engineering position that offers a variety of challenging opportunities in Structural Engineering and will provide an excellent opportunity for career advancement.

• Lead structural design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
• Responsible for the production of engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and engineering reports. Ensure that calculations and deliverables are technically sound and in accordance with project requirements
• Apply civil/structural engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components
• Produce Procurement Specifications and Construction Specifications (Structural sections)
• Monitor the work of assigned staff on technical matters pertinent to project assignments; Maintain assigned tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the projects
• Use effective written and oral Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns
• Mentor junior engineers

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

Essential skills and experience:

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
• BSSE or MSSE degree or similar from an ABET-accredited program
• 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering
• Experience with producing engineering designs for foundations, structures, support structures
• Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC
• Experience working with and/or at Department of Energy (DOE) sites and facilities preferred
• Experience in preparing design drawings, engineering analyses and calculations, and construction, fabrication and procurement specifications
• Requires periodic travel to project locations for client meetings, walk-downs and presentations

Valued but not required skills and experience:

• Professional Engineer License (PE)
• DOE experience preferred; commercial or Navy
• Field engineering and construction experience

Compensation Range

$134,546 - $205,557
