Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Project Lead Structural Engineer to guide a team of engineers, interface with clients, and manage diverse projects in the nuclear power sector.

The role emphasizes design, analysis, and coordination with multiple disciplines, with a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work three days per week. Excellent communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience on design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of Structural Engineers and interface with Clients and other disciplines.
• Direct preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
• Mentor others in developing high‑quality engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and field verification.

In This Position You Will Guide a Team Of Structural Engineers, Interface With Clients And Engineers From Other Disciplines As Well As Manage a Variety Of Exciting Projects. This Position Will Enable You To

• Apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design in the successful execution of assigned tasks
• Work on a wide range of projects for various clients and interface with them as required
• Direct the preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, reports and other deliverables and support designers with drawing development.
• Supervise and mentor others in the development of quality engineering deliverables
• Perform the structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations using our state-of-the-art computer tools
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.

Essential Skills And Experience

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• 10 or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of industrial / heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Valued, But Not Required

• MSCE degree
• On-site construction support experience
• PE or SE license

• Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not required.
• We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.

Compensation Range

$118,023 - $180,313
