Job summary

Advantage Technical is seeking a Steering Wheel Engineer to own development from concept through production. The role is on-site in Southfield, MI or Newark, CA, collaborating with design, safety, interior and user experience teams to meet performance, quality and cost goals.

You will lead milestones, develop specifications, work with suppliers, support crash testing and safety compliance, review designs, and drive engineering solutions across the full development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years automotive product development experience.
• Experience with steering wheels, interior components.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack analysis.
• CAD proficiency and strong mechanical fundamentals.
• Experience managing suppliers and driving projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead steering wheel projects from concept to production.
• Develop specs, packaging requirements, and releases.
• Collaborate with design, safety, interior and UX teams.
• Partner with suppliers to manage development and timelines.
• Support crash testing and vehicle safety validation.
• Review designs, identify improvements, and resolve issues.
• Drive root-cause analysis and engineering solutions.
