Job summary

Arion seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems for onshore Texas projects. You will drive technical design activities, perform power system studies, and ensure quality and compliance of all electrical deliverables while coordinating with project teams, clients, and suppliers.

The role requires collaboration across disciplines, prepares cost estimates, contributes to proposals, and mentors junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of onshore project experience.
  • NCEES P.E. License preferred.
  • Experience with onshore oil & gas or energy facilities involving high/medium voltage power supply, transformers, motor drives, switchgear, MCC, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams.
  • Develops short circuit, load flow and arc flash documentation using ETAP, SKM, or other power system study software.
  • Prepares electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, purchase requisitions and bid evaluations for drives, switchgear, transformers and other electrical equipment.
  • Leads technical discussions with suppliers and clients; reviews vendor documents; ensures quality control of deliverables.
  • Assists in power system cost estimates and scopes of work; builds relationships with suppliers and clients; mentors junior staff.

Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams.
  • Develops short circuit, load flow and arc flash documentation using ETAP, SKM, or other power system study software.
  • Prepares electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, purchase requisitions and bid evaluations for drives, switchgear, transformers and other electrical equipment / materials as required.
  • Conducts technical evaluation, evaluate equipment / material suitability and issue clarification of supplier bids - complete technical report to support order placement.
  • Leads technical discussion, meetings with suppliers and clients.
  • Reviews vendor documents.
  • Responsible for quality control of all deliverables within the scope of the Electrical discipline.
  • Interfaces with project management and Client and liaise with other project disciplines.
  • Assists in preparation of power system cost estimates and defining scopes of work for project design and study proposals.
  • Builds internal and external relationships with key suppliers, clients, and internal & external service providers or contractors.
  • Works with electrical engineers, technologists and designers to provide electrical design and deliverables to a variety of projects.
  • Prepares electrical designs, calculations and bills of material.
  • Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the client.
  • Develops designs that require innovation and ingenuity.
  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.
  • Performs related duties, as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications / Education Requirements
  • BSc, MSc or equivalent in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • 10+ years of onshore project experience.
  • NCEES P.E. License is preferred.
  • Experience with the engineering and design of onshore oil & gas or energy facilities involving high / medium voltage power supply, transformers, motor drives, switchgear / MCC, power distribution, electrical panels, lighting, grounding etc.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Software
  • Proficient with Smart Plant Electrical, SKM Power Tools, ETAP.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations.
  • Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant or facility.
  • When on field assignment you may be required to work in a plant and/or shop areas around production machinery subject to varying temperatures and noise.
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication capabilities.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Sufficient visual acuity or other observational abilities to review documents, perform analysis, and conduct investigations.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to perform routine office tasks such as typing and using standard office equipment.
  • Sufficient mobility to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations as needed.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting operational or field locations, as required by the safety department.
