Job summary

GE Vernova seeks a Lead Specialist Operational EHS - Fixed Facilities to provide daily EHS support for site operations and implement robust EHS programs. You will assess risks, drive continuous improvement, and advise site leadership on regulatory compliance and safety practices.

As an individual contributor, you will manage incident investigations, training development, and tracking of EHS metrics. Willingness to relocate to Wilmington, NC and travel ~10% are considered in the evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Up to 3 years of EHS experience in an industrial manufacturing or fixed facility environment.
  • Ability to navigate complex, multi-layered enterprise applications and software suites.

Job Description Summary

The Lead Specialist Operational EHS - Fixed Facilities provides daily EHS support for site operations. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining EHS programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, and providing competent technical advice to site leadership. You will serve as an individual contributor focused on operational execution, risk assessment, and the continuous improvement of EHS management systems.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice and direction on health and safety initiatives at the Wilmington site for assigned program areas.
  • Responsible for leading EHS compliance for the Services Component Operations (SCO), site facilities, site medical, training and Industrial Hygiene Programs (and/or other media as assigned)
  • Support necessary programs to assure compliance with OSHA, nuclear industrial and environmental protection requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to site supervisors to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements.
  • Develop and lead training programs for assigned program areas.
  • Provide project management as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Modify and implement compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems to assure compliance.
  • Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships site operations personnel, site leadership and with regulatory agencies.
  • Track site progress against EHS metrics and goals.
  • Participate in EHS compliance program audits and Kaizen/Lean Action Workouts.
  • Perform incident investigations, develop corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Function on the site emergency response organization as an EHS Advisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent preferably in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in EHS in an industrial manufacturing or fixed facility environment.
  • Possess the ability to intuitively navigate and switch between complex, multi-layered enterprise applications and software suites.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to master proprietary interfaces, learn new technical tools quickly, and troubleshoot minor software-related hurdles independently.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, in both written and verbal form, to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Possesses the ability to represent GE Vernova in a professional manner to outside agencies, customers, and vendors.
  • Prior experience with controlled documentation/Management of Change (MOC).
  • Demonstrated initiative in proactively identifying future potential safety risks and suggesting or implementing appropriate countermeasures.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply applicable EHS regulations as they apply to the site.
  • An offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Must be able to relocate to Wilmington, NC.
  • Travel, approximately 10% or less.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain/maintain Emergency Organization (EO) qualification(s)
  • Must maintain after hours cell phone availability.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $85,500.00 and $142,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
