Job Shift: Day

The Lead, Special Processes is responsible for collaborating in the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the special processes operation with specific focus on safety, quality, and productivity. The Special Processes Lead assists the Department Supervisor to ensure product is produced at a high level of quality in accordance with established production procedures and specifications. Proficiency is required in T‑Blast, Passivation, Tumbling, Prime and Second Operation functions, including troubleshooting minor production issues. The Special Processes Lead assists with set‑up, operation and training on various machinery. The Special Processes Lead also follows and enforces standard shop practices and safe work habits; ensuring production operations are safe and efficient. The Special Processes Lead must lead by example through strong work ethic, following procedures, and making sure the department’s daily requirements are fulfilled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain safe & healthy work environment in accordance with internal and OSHA requirements, including maintaining reports, employee safety training, monthly safety checklist, safety supplies inventory, safe workstations, safe‑to‑use tools, and enforcing the proper use of safety equipment.
  • Follows and enforces standard shop practices and safe work habits; ensuring production operations are safe and efficient.
  • Lead by example through strong work ethic, following procedures, and making sure the department’s daily requirements are fulfilled.
  • Ensure standardized operational work practices, maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards, quality requirements and production efficiency targets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and industry requirements including AS9100, ISO 140001, AMS2700 and NADCAP.
  • Assists with set‑up, operation and training on various machinery.
  • Assist in analyzing, controlling, and executing plans to meet or exceed quality requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of quality standards, as it applies to process and product.
  • Suggest ideas for continuous improvements and participate in implementation.
  • Ensure that all personnel are following defined process and procedures.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Assists in implementing cross training and flexible resource planning.
  • Continually monitors the production process to ensure maximum safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Department Supervisor in order to plan, organize, direct and sustain all assigned manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Communicate with Department Supervisor work status, workload, issues and progress as related to work assignments.
  • Assist in onboarding and process training for new employees.
  • Exhibit a commitment to the inspiration, development and mentorship of team members and peers.
  • Implement and sustain clean, orderly and hazard‑free work areas.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard‑free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self‑starter and be detail oriented.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Follow established methods and procedures, must be able to perform, but not limited to the following operations necessary for machine operation while maintaining exceptional quality: set‑up, measuring, hand tool operations and machine operation.
  • Proficiency is required in T‑Blast, Passivation, Tumbling, Prime and Second Operation functions, including troubleshooting minor production issues.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong organizational skills to track and monitor all team members.
  • Use and be familiar with measuring tools, interpret visual aids, and perform shop math.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings.
  • Ability to write and read English.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Two years related experience and/or training preferred.
  • MTI certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of hand/fingers continuously through shift to manipulate components, tools, etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand for the length of shift, bend and reach.
