Job summary

Bob Mathis Elementary School in DeKalb County is seeking a Lead Teacher, Special Education (LTSE) to deliver high-quality instruction and develop IEPs for students with disabilities. The role requires collaboration with general education teachers and strong communication.

The LTSE will support MTSS planning, model effective lessons across co-taught and resource settings, and help align practices with district expectations to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field required.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a special education classroom teacher required.
• Valid Georgia PSC director of special education endorsement or certificate in educational leadership at SRL-5 or above required.

Responsibilities

• Plan collaboratively with Area team, school leaders, district coordinators, and teacher leaders to ensure quality instructional planning and curriculum delivery for students with disabilities.
• Utilize data to identify patterns in student achievement for students with disabilities.
• Support teachers with Specially Designed Instruction and integration of Assistive Technology and accommodations.
• Model effective lessons in co-taught, resource, and self-contained settings.
• Participate in MTSS planning and collaborative meetings to address student needs.
• Collaborate with coordinators to elevate learning conditions for students with disabilities.
• Plan and conduct professional learning opportunities for teachers and leaders.
• Assist in developing the CSIP to address needs of students with disabilities.
• Provide strategies to increase access to the general curriculum and improve outcomes.
• Chair IEP meetings and ensure compliance with requirements.
• Maintain required documentation for class size, FTE counts, and reports.
