Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in special education or related field is required or in process.
  • Current Michigan teaching certificate with special education endorsement (or related support).
  • Supervisor/Administrator/Director certification (or in process).
  • Minimum of five years of special education experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with special education laws, including documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ensure attendance tracking and accommodations per IEP guidelines.
  • Prepare reports, IEPs, 504s, audits, and student logs.
  • Guide the development of individualized instruction methods.
  • Oversee and adapt special education services, behavior plans, and assistive technology.
  • Collaborate with District Discipline Team to ensure fair interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate special education programs with leadership.
  • Investigate and resolve program-related emergencies and compliance issues.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to special education teachers and staff.
  • Supervise staff schedules, performance, and time records.
  • Conduct evaluations, address performance concerns, and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in hiring and recruitment when needed.
  • Attend county, state, and district meetings to stay updated on policies.
  • Maintain clear communication with leadership, administrators, and school personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
