Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education is required or preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) is preferred.
  • State-required pre-service training completed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

The Early Childhood Lead Teacher at The Goddard School is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment. The Goddard School of Maplewood is a Tri-lingual school that teaches English, Spanish, and Mandarin. The lead teacher speaks to the students in their target language all day, embodies and support the school’s vision & mission and make it central to all decisions and actions. Additionally, a lead teacher is responsible to work together with an assistant teacher and in conjunction with the entire faculty.

Lead Teacher Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum and Instruction:

  • Classroom Management:
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment

  • Family Communication:
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and daily activities
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide regular updates
  • Encourage family involvement and participation in school activities
  • Health and Safety:
  • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and common areas
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and procedures
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure their safety and well-being
  • Professional Development:
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Stay current with best practices in early childhood education
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to share ideas and strategies

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required;
