Job summary

Varda Space Industries, Inc. in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer (Integration) to orchestrate final spacecraft assembly and ensure safe, on-schedule integration of subsystems.

You will own integration procedures, travelers, and the interface between manufacturing and engineering disciplines. The role requires 6+ years in integration, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to resolve complex interface issues on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Systems Engineering, or related discipline; 6–10+ years experience.
• 6+ years in vehicle/system integration roles in aerospace/defense/robotics.
• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and fluid interfaces within a vehicle.
• Experience developing and executing complex assembly or integration procedures.
• Ability to manage priorities and make real-time decisions on the production floor.
• Exceptional communication across multi-discipline teams.
• Physically able to lift 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Own spacecraft integration sequences and final vehicle closeout.
• Develop, maintain, and improve assembly travelers and integration work instructions.
• Serve as primary interface between manufacturing and engineering disciplines during integration.
• Identify and resolve interface conflicts before impacting the schedule.
• Lead integration readiness reviews and ensure pre-integration checkpoints are completed.
• Drive root cause analysis and disposition MRBs with design engineering.
• Track integration metrics and implement improvements to hit cadence goals.
• Define tooling and lifting equipment requirements for safe integration operations.
