Job summary

JPL’s Power Electronics Group within the Avionics, Power, & Instrument Electronics Section is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer III with aerospace hardware experience to lead power electronics tasks from concept through build, test and delivery for space flight hardware.

Ideal candidates have hands-on design and testing experience, strong leadership, and the ability to manage budgets and schedules while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in a challenging, mission-driven

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar technical discipline with typically a minimum of 6 years of related work experience, a Master’s degree with typically a minimum of 4 years, or a PhD with typically a minimum of 2 years.
• Deep understanding in Analog, Digital and Mixed‑Signal Electronics, Controls, or Power Systems Design, including power control systems.
• Experience crafting, developing, fabricating, assembly and testing of analog or power electronics hardware.
• Experience with test software and hardware, particularly LabVIEW and Python test equipment.
• Knowledge of Altium and LTspice for circuit and board design.
• Experience in space applications including testing and integration.
• Strong communication, leadership, and budget/schedule management.

Responsibilities

• Lead power electronics tasks from concept through build, test and delivery for space flight hardware.
• Manage budgets and schedules, develop system designs and requirements.
• Report progress to Line, Project, and Institutional Management.
• Develop advanced electronics technology to support future missions.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers across disciplines.
• Document conceptual development, reliability, structural, and thermal analyses.
• Review electronics, test equipment, and test plans within a subsystem team.
