Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Principal Component Engineer I in Westminster, MD to drive parts selection, qualification, and failure analysis for EEE components used in satellites and aerospace systems.

The role leads roadmap development, supplier evaluations, and ECO documentation while working with cross‑functional design, reliability, and quality teams to mitigate risk and optimize performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of component engineering experience.
• Knowledge of aerospace component selection and qualification.
• Experience with high‑volume satellite constellations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Define testing and qualification requirements for EEE parts with customers.
• Lead high‑reliability EEE parts selection and qualification.
• Develop state‑of‑the‑art component roadmaps with design teams.
• Review customer docs and align needs with product lines.
• Prepare NSPARs and SCDs.
• Perform BOM cost analysis and supplier audits.
